Cyber Security graduate with practical experience gained through a 15-week professional placement with the Department of Communities (Western Australia), working across both Information Security Governance (ISaG) and Information Security (IS) functions. During my placement, I contributed to governance framework development, risk assessments, audit management and compliance activities, security control governance and cyber security process improvement. I supported audit recommendation tracking, governance assurance initiatives and control monitoring while contributing to projects aligned with the NIST Cybersecurity Framework 2.0. This work helped improve accountability, consistency and operational effectiveness across the organisation. In Information Security, I gained hands-on experience with Microsoft security technologies including Microsoft Defender, Sentinel, Entra ID and Purview. My work included investigating security events, supporting AI security control implementation, configuring data protection controls and contributing to the secure adoption of emerging technologies. I am particularly interested in the intersection between Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) and operational security. Throughout my placement, I demonstrated initiative by independently developing solutions using SharePoint and Power Automate, improving security control reporting, approval workflows and stakeholder visibility. These experiences strengthened my ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences while working collaboratively across diverse teams. My strengths include proactive problem-solving, process improvement, stakeholder engagement and a commitment to continuous learning. I am passionate about helping organisations strengthen their security posture through practical, risk-informed and business-aligned cyber security solutions. Areas of interest include Cyber Security Governance, Risk Management, Information Security, Security Operations, AI Security, Compliance, Security Architecture and Security Awareness. I am currently seeking opportunities to continue developing my expertise in Cyber Security, Information Security and GRC while contributing to meaningful security outcomes within forward-thinking organisations.
