Micah Heaton is the Executive Director of Microsoft Product and Innovation Strategy at BlueVoyant and the 2025 Microsoft Security Changemaker. He’s the co-author of Microsoft Cloud Security for Dummies and author of Best Practices for Leveraging Microsoft Security Copilot. Micah has worked for several fortune 500 companies (Microsoft, Verisk Analytics, Unisys Corporation) as well as startups. Over the past five years, Micah has delivered more than 100 webinars, podcasts, and live training sessions across Microsoft Sentinel, Defender for Cloud, M365 Defenders, and EMS. His work helps organizations cut through noise and build real operational resilience. He began his security career in 2008, working graveyard shifts in a NOC managing colocation environments and responding to 3AM escalations. Later, he served as a field account manager in Washington D.C. installing firewalls, running fiber, and managing access escalations for DOD-adjacent clients along the eastern seaboard. From operations to strategy to product alignment, Micah brings full-spectrum experience to every conversation. Micah is also a husband, a father of two young boys, and a caregiver to family members with physical challenges. He brings his family into his work whenever possible, believing the lessons from the field and the lessons from home are not separate. His approach to leadership is rooted in empathy, transparency, and making every insight something his kids could one day understand. He is a former university guest lecturer and a grateful alumnus of the National Forensics League. His sessions blend technical depth, real-world experience, and human storytelling.
