So, you were just handed a Microsoft 365 (M365) tenant in the cloud. Congratulations are in order! Now that we’ve dispensed with the pleasantries, you’re probably wondering what the heck you’re supposed to do with that tenant. If so, you’re in luck, as this workshop is designed specifically for you and others who find themselves with the same basic question. 

In this workshop, we approach M365 tenant administration from the perspective of someone who now has tenant administration responsibilities without necessarily knowing what that means or encompasses. We’ll spend some time learning the terminology, bounds, and different pieces of tenant administration. 

We’ll also investigate how the admin experience is partially coupled to how your organization is licensed. We’ll cover what you need to do to establish your new tenant, and we’ll take a tour of the various admin surfaces available to M365 administrators. 

By the end of this workshop, you’ll have a functional understanding of M365 administration and the tools you have available to implement your organization’s cloud vision.

An Introduction to Microsoft 365 Tenant Administration

Data modeling is an essential first step in any Power Apps or Power Automate project. Power apps provides a user interface for information stored in a data source and Power Automate creates workflows that manipulate data stored in a data source based on specific events or triggers. Data modeling is difficult enough for professional developers, but it is even harder for citizen developers. Citizen developers usually have little exposure to concepts like data normalization and often can’t use true relational databases like SQL or Dataverse because of the cost of Premium licensing. So, they are left trying to figure out how to build their flows or apps using data stored in SharePoint lists or Excel spreadsheets. 
In this workshop I will show you some real-world techniques for doing data modeling. I’ll start with a typical project requirements definition and show you how to easily convert it into an Entity Relationship model. Next, I’ll show you how to map that Entity Relationship model onto a set of SharePoint lists. Once I have the lists designed, I’ll show you how to use them in a Power App and a flow. Along the way I’ll walk you through what you need to know about using SharePoint as a data source, including:
•	What Column types work well and which ones to avoid
•	When to use (or not use) Lookup columns to create relationships between lists
•	How to plan for Security in SharePoint
•	Other Common issues
I’ll focus on SharePoint in the workshop but the techniques I teach you are also applicable for other data sources like Excel, SQL or even Dataverse.

Content Management for the AI Era: How to Optimize Your Content for Copilot

In this session we will show how easy it is to get setup coding solutions using the Microsoft Graph. Microsoft Graph is the gateway to data and intelligence in Microsoft 365. It provides a unified programmability model that you can use to access the tremendous amount of data in Microsoft 365, Windows 10, and Enterprise Mobility + Security.  

We will look at how to use the Graph Explorer to validate our solution and then create a solution that can be a pilot for automating a Visitor intake system for offices to use as health screening and policy assurance before admitting someone onsite. 

This solution will be using Microsoft Teams and Planner with an ASP.NET MVC front end.

How to do Search and Content Assessment in Microsoft 365

Modern AI-enabled applications require modern data layers to handle hyperscale data for retrieval-augmented generation.

Using your enterprise knowledge for building Q&A experiences in Copilot

SharePoint and OneDrive include several content recovery options for SharePoint and OneDrive for Business administrators, site collection administrators, and end users. Educating your end users on SharePoint recovery options like the site recycle bin, versioning, and site collection recycle bin can lighten the burden on your admins.

We will then compare, discuss, and explore Microsoft Backup, and Microsoft Archive that can be used to perform your own backups for quicker and easier document recovery.

Using either a GUI or PowerShell you can backup and restore your entire SharePoint Server farm or components of it. In SharePoint Server you can also perform more granular content backups by exporting site collections, site, libraries, and lists, and there are  options for recovering these site collections, sites, lists and libraries from content databases that are no longer part of your SharePoint Server farm. 

With a vast majority of your SharePoint Server content stored in SQL Server it is imperative that you have an efficient way to recover items or entire databases as quickly as possible.

This discussion will introduce the Best Practices framework that will allow your SharePoint Server  administrators to configure SharePoint as well as SQL Server for quick content recovery, minimizing the downtime and providing shorter and achievable Service Level Agreements (SLA’s).
